Ubuntu 8.04 on a Dell Latitude C640- The Perfect Install?

I AM GRATEFUL!

I can finally open skype and firefox at the same time on 8.04 and make calls. The guide just worked, perfectly. (Note: Skype's needed settings are referred to in Appendix C).

Problems on my laptop (fixed= [x] || not yet fixed= []:
(My laptop is a Dell C640 with an ATI Radeon 7500, 1 gig of ram, 2.2Ghz processor)

• Compiz Fusion/Restricted ATI Video Card Drivers: [x]
• Skype/Flash/Firefox/Pulse issues: [x]
• Sleep/Hibernate/Closing Laptop Lid: []
• HP Firewire/USB combo card (PCMCIA) not functioning: []

(NOTE: whether the card is broken or ubuntu doesn't support is debatable at present- see link for more info. The card's HP Product Number is PM098A#ABA rev 1.0- A, and the S/N is UMI5302481, Model Number is UT-5271-1)

• iPod 6G support connection issues (via Floola): [x]
• Video Editing via ANY means []
• ffmpeg functionality (Floola, mp4ize) [x?]
  

I didn't have ffmpeg support working when I started this, but in the middle of typing, when I was getting the URL for the thread I linked to, I saw that he had responded that it should now work. I tested mp4ize, and it is converting. I will fix this if the conversion turns out to have been faulty, or if it doesn't also work with Floola's converting abilities.

Anyways! Almost everything is fixed now. Video editing seems just around the corner, and sleep and hibernate have yet to really be worked on.
